APRIL 2011 - Beach Walkway

To our Neighbors:

We are pleased to announce that one of the members of our community has made a gift to the Association. The gift is in the form of constructing a walkway to the beach from the roadway. As you may have noticed the final approach to the beach is somewhat hindered by the large asphalt berm that links the roadway to the beach.

While it is necessary, for erosion prevention, that the asphalt berm continue to serve its designed purpose, it makes it difficult for beach goers to easily navigate over the berm to get to the beach or to return to the roadway from the beach..

The beach walkway will be located to the right of the asphalt berm. It will consist of weather-proof materials – concrete steps and some type of synthetic handrail (such as PVC).

We plan to announce this gift at the annual meeting. You are being notified because your property is in sight of the construction and you may therefore be curious as to what is being undertaken at the entranceway to the beach.

Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Tony Wachinski, President of the Board, at 516-624-0802.

WATER SYSTEM UPDATE

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Our water system is not operating normally.

This has been going on since Saturday morning, July 17.

As of today we do not yet have the problem resolved but are working on fast resolution to the problem.

The problem was first thought to be a simple switching issue from Well Pump #1 to Well Pump #2, however that is not the case.

Our water engineer, Steve Siegel as well as our service company Wire to Water are working on resolution of the problem.

To ease disruption of your daily routine, we will attempt to assure that the tank will be filled overnight so that morning showers will be possible.

It would be a tremendous help to your volunteer Board Members if you would send your contact information to the Board via your e-mail address to our new E-mail address shown below.

This will be a big help in prompt communications to the entire community.

Please e-mail your contact Information to:

June 19th, 2009 - Old Brookville Police Scam Warning

WARNING

Old Brookville Police report that there is a scam operating in the area. It is happening throughout the 2nd Precinct not just here in Mill Neck Estates or even just the jurisdiction of Old Brookville Police.

The way the scammers operate is park a van, drop off 8 -10 people ranging in age from 18 – 28. They go door to door with a story about selling magazine subscriptions for anywhere from $25.00 to $50.00. They operate in daylight hours.

In at least one case they attempted entry with a story about their grandmother dying who lived in the neighborhood and wanted to come in and introduce themselves.

OLD BROOKVILLE POLICE ADVICE:

1. Do not allow entry
2. Do not give them any money or checks
3. Close the door, call the Police at 911
4. Do not hint at the person that you are calling the police.

Old Brookville Police did arrest one person yesterday, June 18. The basis of the arrest is that there is an ordinance against soliciting.

Please keep your doors locked, look out for strangers in the neighborhood and if you are approached follow the advice above. If you wrote out a check, put an immediate STOP PAYMENT on the check.

June 28, 2008 - Message from the President

Dear members and Associates,

The purpose of this letter is to transmit to you the minutes of our May 22nd Annual Meeting and to update you on the latest Board happenings.

Our 2009 Annual Meeting will be held on May 21st. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. Your attendance is critical. Ask around to your neighbors who attended this year’s annual meeting. I think that you’ll get a positive reaction. There are many things happening in the neighborhood that can affect you and/or your property. Attend the annual meeting and read what we send you to be current on issues and concerns. Also, if you have access to a computer, check our web site.

I’ve enclosed copies of all correspondence received this past year. We should have read them at the annual meeting but unintentionally did not.

I’ve also enclosed a copy of Don Forchelli’s snow plowing expenses for this past year. This was requested by a member at the annual meeting. As an Association member, you may request a copy of any expenses incurred by the board. Just send a letter to me, and I’ll provide you with that information.

At our first Board meeting of the new fiscal year, we made a few position changes.
The current Board is structured as follows:

We need your help to update our emergency contact list. Please provide a telephone number—either home, cell, or both, that we can call to reach you and your email address, if you have one to our secretary John Tabako.

Thanks to all who attended the May 21st, 2008, Annual Meeting.

Sincerely,

Tony Wachinski

The resident required rabies shots and plastic surgery on her finger.  This incident occurred on Connecticut View Drive.  This was an isolated incident and there is no need for panic.  We recommend you pay special attention to your dog's whereabouts at night.
